1982-1989

1982 November JNR Minatogawa Cargo Station ceases operations
1984 October From among many entries, Harborland is chosen as the new name of the JNR Minatogawa Cargo Station area
1987 November Kobe General Children's Center opens
1988 April Establishment of Kobe Municipal Minato Elementary School and School for the Blind
1989 October Logomark for Kobe Harborland is decided.

1990-1999

1990 July The general information desk of Kobe Harborland opens
August Start of Kobe Educational Center
September Brick warehouse restaurants open their doors
1991 May Completion of Harborland Hiroba (lawn) and pedestrian bridge Hanekko
1992 July Applications first accepted for Harborland Cards
October Grand opening of Kobe Harborland
1993 August Kobe Crystal Tower opens
1994 July Housing Design Center Kobe opens
November Start of illumination of Kobe Gaslight Street
1995 January Great Hanshin Awaji Earthquake forces all commercial facilities to close
April Kobe Hankyu resumes business, as do area parking garages
